Counting down the pounds...

OK, that's it. I saw a picture of myself yesterday that I was not so thrilled about. So I am forcing myself into some accountability. I figure that if I post it here in public then just maybe that will give me the motivation I need to take it seriously. Because if I do this silently it will be easy to let things go or slip in a little somethin' somethin' here and there (or everywhere). I don't want to be crazy about this or be a slave to my scale, just healthy weight loss. Here are my goals.
*Lose 12 pounds over the summer. See the nifty ticker?
*Cut out as much refined sugar as possible. This will be hard because I do love sugar. Not just in candy but in my beverages and well, just about everything. I also hate the taste of diet drinks so it will be just water. I am going to let myself have a black tea lemonade whenever I go to Starbucks and a dessert here or there . But at home my rule will be no sugary stuff.

* Eat at least one salad a day. Summer is a great time to load up on those veggies!
*Eat breakfast. More than my usual which is just a cup of coffee. I am planning on fruit for breakfast as much as possible. Again Summer is a great time for this.
*Walk at least 3 times a week, hopefully increasing this as the weeks progress. I know a big key is going to be moving more. I used to walk faithfully every day before we traveled to China.
*Swimming whenever I take the kids to the pool. Usually I sit and watch. I am committing to swim some laps this Summer. I normally take the kids 3 or more times a week.
I have read enough diet books so I know all the 'how-to's' I could probably tell you about nearly any diet you have heard of. And tried most of them. The problem lies when it is all head knowledge and no action. There I am. Over the past several month I have slowly (and suddenly sometimes) let myself creep into some bad habits...but no longer.
Whew...now I am committed and accountable

Hi Jill,
Ya I too am still on this weightloss journey as you may have seen when visiting Yokoso.

It is tough, but since losing the first 40 in 4 months, last year, I have felt SO much better.

Now, 50 or 60 more to go. I hope to do this THIS year!

I wish you well on your weightloss and I will pray for you too.

The things I need to remember: Fibre is my friend. To poo is a GREAT thing! AND anything that displays the "Heart and Stroke Foundation" symbol is THE BEST THING I COULD PUT IN MY BODY to lose weight!--THIS IS how I'm doing it anyway...Oh and I just started PGX. Have you heard of it? Doctors are prescribing it for diabetics now to help them control their blood sugar. SO far it's gotten me off this plateau I was stuck on for so long. I'm SO excited about this! pgx.com is where all the info is about it!!! In the last couple weeks since I started it I've lost 10 pounds! and I'm STILL in shock. :)

YOU CAN DO IT JILL. It IS God's will that we be healthy. Ps 37:4 even when it comes to food. That is my prayer for me and for you now too!!

Thanks so much for helping me get motivated to loose weight. I think us walking together will help us both stay accountable. Maybe we can even work up to a slight jog...maybe not..hee hee. I will see you wednesday bright and early.! P.S I think I would like to do two goals on weight loss. First goal would be to loose 15 pounds. Then my second would be to loose another 15 pounds. I can do it right!!

Good for you! I hope you will keep us posted! I have been really trying to eat very healthy and exercise a lot. I applaud you on not drinking diet drinks...anything with aspartame is really bad for you. I've read to much research on it---bad bad stuff!!!

You've got a great plan Jill. I need to jump on in with ya...I've been trying to walk too now with the nice weather. I think we all need to work extra hard at being healthy and fit as we get older; it's just not as easy as it used to be...I guess we're not in our 20's anymore either!!! I was gonna say I'd love to walk with you, but it looks like you've got a partner already...my dog will have to do for me and she loves to walk ;)
